What is Oil Filtration?

This is a seemingly simple question with seemingly simple answers. The problem however is because so many different products exist in the marketplace, either confusion abounds or there is an attempt to oversimplify in order to cut through the confusion.

LE Launches DUOLECTM - Exclusive 'Dual Action' Anti-Wear & Extreme Pressure Additive!

Fifty years after the introduction of its famous, unique & proprietary anti-wear additive ALMASOL®, Lubrication Engineers is launching their latest additive for the enhancement of their LE gear oils. LE is proud to announce the launch of their next generation proprietary additive DUOLEC™ - offering even more superior protection than ALMASOL®. DUOLEC™ has a 'dual action' that also shares the attributes of both LE's ALMASOL® & MONOLEC® anti-wear additives. It is a temperature activated, dual acting, liquid additive that imparts special properties & synergies to the LE lubricants in which it is used. DUOLEC™ increases lubricant film strength & protects metal surfaces by outperforming at greater temperatures & loads. In a wear test according to ASTM protocol, DUOLEC™ was found to reduce wear by as much as 11% when it was the only additive incorporated into base oil ¢€“ proving its outstanding performance without the interference of other ingredients.

The Importance of Quality H1 Food Grade Lubricants in Today's Food Processing Equipment

In spite of electronics, automated equipment, computers and other modern technology, people are still responsible for lubrication and maintenance in the Food Processing Industry. They are constantly beset with plaguing problems of the operating environment, as well as problems inherent in complex equipment. Lubrication of equipment in food industry applications requires high quality, high performance lubricants that stand up to some of the harshest environmental conditions found anywhere.

High Performance Enhanced Lubricant Products - The Clear Choice for Cement Plant Open Gears

Most Cement facilities require materials to be ground or pulverized for use in the manufacturing process. Much of this material is ground in Ball, Pebble, Rod or Breaker Mills. Many of these mills have large, open bull or ring gear and pinion gearsets as drive mechanisms. Lubrication of these large open gear systems presents a unique challenge due to the harsh environmental considerations in Cement plants as well as heavily loaded conditions.

Environmentally Friendly Lubricants - Biodegradable or Nontoxic

Over the last decade and possibly longer, biodegradation has been the predominant yard stick to measure how lubricants rate for being environmentally friendly. It was thought that the more completely a lubricant decomposes to harmless hydrogen-carbon-oxygen compounds, the better the lubricant will be for the environment. While a high degree of biodegradation can be a lubricant benefit, biodegradation alone does not provide a complete picture of how a lubricant impacts the environment. Consideration should also be given to different ways a lubricant impacts the environment.

Lubrication Basics for Wire Ropes

Wire rope forms an important part of many machines and structures. It is comprised of continuous wire strands wound around a central core. There are many kinds of wire rope designed for different applications. Most of them are steel wires made into strands wound with each other. The core can be made of steel, rope or even plastics.

Beyond Synthetic Vs. Mineral Basestock or What Happened To The Application?

As lubricant manufacturers search to improve their profitability, a trend has been emerging from the major oil lubricant manufacturers and independent commodity oil blenders. This trend is to emphasize synthetic lubricants, an issue that appears to be coming up frequently in sales presentations to lubricant end users. While the trend is for improved lubrication from the users standpoint, they can be led down the wrong path that a synthetic based lubricant will always provide superior performance. To help the end user choose the right path they must be provided with some basic knowledge of how the different types of lubricants are formulated with respect to performance in the application.
